Meet the Staff - June 2023

Each month, we will be highlighting different members of our staff so you can get to know us. This month, we'll introduce you to Karen. You can find her out at our Erie Islands branch on Put-In-Bay. As a year-round Put-In-Bay resident, she is always happy to give back to her community and share the great spots the island has.

Hello! My name is Karen Wilhelm and I am the Manager at the Erie Islands Library. Yes, I do reside on the island of South Bass year-round with my husband and our dog Cupcake. Our son Douglas also lives on the island and is employed by Miller Boat Line and serves as the Asst. Fire Chief on the Put-in-Bay Volunteer Fire Department. My daughter, a physical therapist, and her family live in Dayton, Ohio. We love spending time with our two grandsons! My hobbies are sewing and reading.

My favorite author is Jodi Picoult. I enjoy how she can take a current social issue and make it come to life. Her latest book is Mad Honey about bees and teen issues.

My dream vacation would be going back to Austria to meet family still residing in Vienna and to Germany to see friends. My favorite vacation was taken this past winter to Marathon, Florida with my entire family to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary.

Don't laugh, but my favorite thing to collect has been the Snow Village pieces for Christmas. Christmas has always been a time for gathering family and friends together for our family. The Christmas village just adds to the happiness of the holiday season.
